Yurdun Orbak is currently
a full professor in the Industrial Engineering Department
at Uludağ
University. He graduated from Istanbul
Technical University’s (ITU) Mechanical
Engineering Department in 1992 ranking first in his graduating class of
178 students.
In 1992, he enrolled in
the M.S. program in Robotics at the ITU’s Institute of Science &
Technology. During his tenure there, he took a national exam held by the
Turkish Ministry of National Education and was subsequently awarded a
scholarship by the Turkish Government to pursue graduate studies in the United
States in Mechanical Engineering – Robotics. During the fall of 1994, he was
accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s
Department
of Mechanical Engineering. He continued his graduate studies at MIT
beginning in the spring of 1994, and graduated with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (SMME)
degree in 1995 and a Mechanical Engineer’s (ME)
degree in 1998.
After returning back to
Turkey in January 1999, he completed his Ph.D. at Boğazici
University’s Mechanical Engineering Department in
2003.
His research interests lie
in interdisciplinary areas, especially in robotics, system dynamics and control
and lean manufacturing.
